Professor J.D. Brown teaches WISPAD’s workshop on Strategic Natural Disaster Preparedness and Relief. He is a world-renown specialist in Emergency Preparedness and Response, Safety Engineering and Management, and Fire Protection with vast experience advising government agencies on compliance with U.S. Federal and industrial safety standards since 1984. Professor Brown has a prolific academic career of more than 20 years at Oklahoma State University developing and teaching advanced courses on System and Industrial Safety, Occupational Safety, Ergonomics, and Fire Protection among other related subjects. He has extensive experience working as an administrator for the Safety and Loss Control Department for the city of Sacramento in California. He is the author of influential publications on emergency preparedness and response, fire protection, safety and education, hazardous materials management, heat stress management, process safety analysis, and safety management. More recently, Professor Brown has served as trainer and advisor on safety and emergency response and preparedness for municipal and provincial Fire Protection Bureaus including the city of Beijing in China, and the city of Gangwon in South Korea.

Dr. Gabriele Campanella teaches WISPAD’s workshops on Program Evaluationand Applied Program Evaluation. Her main academic interests include the integration of ethical frameworks into the analysis and design of effective public policies in the areas of public health and environmental health. Dr. Campanella’s expertise combines advanced biomedical research with analytical training in international public health, providing an enriching multidisciplinary perspective for the analysis and design of effective public health policies. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the University of York, England, and a Master’s degree in Public Health from Boston University with a specialization in International Health, Statistics and Environmental Health. Dr. Campanella has eleven years of full-time research experience at Harvard Medical School in Immunology, Autoimmunity and Infectious Diseases, and has published a total of twenty-eight peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. She also has broad experience working with business and social enterprises throughout China.

Dr. Joseph Campanella teaches WISPAD’s workshops on Strategic Nonprofit Management, Nonprofit Human Resource Management, Nonprofit Financial Leadership and Management, and Nonprofit Marketing and Branding. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Political Science with a major in American Politics and Public Policy from Boston University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government with specializations in political and economic development, poverty alleviation, and applied microeconomics and econometrics. Dr. Campanella acquired research experience in the analysis of developmental economic policy both at the former Harvard Institute of International Development (HIID) and the Center for International Development (CID) at the Kennedy School. He served as Chief Legal Advisor in the Central Information Office of the Venezuelan Presidency under President Rafael Caldera, and in several Venezuelan non-profit organizations. Joseph Campanella graduated summa cum laude from the Law School of the Venezuelan Catholic University, Andrés Bello.

Li Hongyan teaches WISPAD’s workshop on Strategic Volunteer Management.Hongyan has nearly 20 years of experience serving in the development field of China, starting in the mid-1990s, with her work at the All-China Women’s Federation on the promotion of gender equality. Hongyan served for seven years with VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) China as Senior Program Manager for education and national volunteering development. Since 2011, Hongyan has worked for a UN agency in China supporting programs in HIV/AIDS and school health as well as inclusive education. Hongyan has delivered training to Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs on various specialized topics on strategic volunteer management, and contributed to the development of China's Ministry of Civil Affairs’ Handbook on Volunteer Management. Hongyan is among the first Chinese Alumni of WISPAD and first fruits of WISPAD's envisioned “Wilberforces” to promote the peaceful, sustainable and lasting development.

Lim Tat is the managing partner of Aequitas Law LLP, a law firm based in Singapore. He has over 25 years of experience in litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation and collaborative practices. Tat obtained LL.B (Hons) and MBA / LL.M from NUS and MSc (Construction Law & Arbitration) from King’s College London, University of London and NUS. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He received advanced training for negotiations and mediation at the Pepperdine University School of Law and Harvard Law School. In his role as a Principal Trainer with Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC)’s Adjunct Training Faculty, Tat has delivered negotiations and mediation trainings in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Fiji and Qatar. He and WISPAD Faculty Eng Wah collaborated in developing WISPAD’s comprehensive new Workshop on Negotiation Skills, which they started teaching in May of 2014.

Yong Eng Wah is a Negotiation and Mediation expert accredited as Principal Mediator of the Singapore Mediation Center (SMC) and as Senior Mediator of the Consumer Association of Singapore (‘CASE’). His wide experience leading negotiations and conflict resolutions in different Asian countries includes areas such as consumer cases, mediations in contract and construction related cases, as well as engineering disputes. Eng Wah graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with High Honors in Engineering; double majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science. He later obtained an MBA from the National University of Singapore. Eng Wah also holds an LLM from the Singapore Management University. He has taught Negotiation Workshops in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe and the U.S.A. He and WISPAD Faculty Lim Tat collaborated in developing WISPAD’s comprehensive new Workshop on Negotiation Skills, which they started teaching in May of 2014.
